A Lonely Practice

"Writing is a lonely job. Having someone who believes in you makes a lot if difference. They don't have to makes speeches. Just believing is usually enough.” -Stephen King

I'm realizing once again writing is a lonely practice. As I'm planning my next book, my mind is reeling with ideas that can either be in my mind or on the page. Nowhere else. Yes, I have amazing friends and family to support me. But it's going to be awhile until they get to read this new book, and all the self doubts are coming back. "Will this book be good enough?" "How do I make a dang villain?" Yet, I still love it so I'll keep going.

"Write with the door closed, rewrite with the door open. Your stuff starts out being just for you, in other words, but then it goes out. Once you know what the story is and get it right — as right as you can, anyway — it belongs to anyone who wants to read it. Or criticize it.” —Stephen King
